      1. POSITION: MANUFACTURING COST ACCOUNTANT

      JOB OVERVIEW

      We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating, analysing, and reporting on manufacturing costs to support operational efficiency across our manufacturing division, accurate product pricing, and strategic decision-making. This position works closely with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure financial transparency across the entire manufacturing process

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Analyse manufacturing costs, raw materials, and production variances across Bakery and Butchery Business Units.
      • Review and update Bill of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and alignment with current recipes, yields, processes, and ingredient pricing.
      • Identify cost drivers, margin gaps, and variances through detailed analysis of production data and financial reporting.
      • Conduct root cause investigations into GP erosion, material inefficiencies, rework, wastage, and labour variation.
      • Provide actionable business insights and recommendations that improve gross profit, operational processes, and resource utilisation.
      • Partner with operational leaders to support decision-making and performance improvement.
      • Prepare periodic reporting and dashboards for management, comparing actual vs. standard costs and budget performance.
      • Support continuous improvement initiatives in product cost tracking, system data accuracy, and performance analysis.
      • Ensure costing records, pricing structures, and manufacturing assumptions remain up to date and reliable.

       

      SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

      • Experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or product costing (essential).
      • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret operational and financial data.
      • Understanding of Bill of Materials (BOMs), production processes, recipe costings, and raw material movements.
      • Experience in food manufacturing, bakery, butchery, FMCG, or similar environments preferred.
      • Proficient in spreadsheets, ERP systems, and costing or production reporting tools.
      • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
      • High attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving focus.
      • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting and at least 5 years’ experience of Costing in the Retail & Manufacturing business.
      • Exceptional organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
      • Daily monitoring of reports related to margins and cost. Investigate issues independently and take corrective actions.
